While our company was among the 20 or so sponsors of PABNAB 2018, Demy-Colton was not an organizer of this event nor was it involved in its planning. As a sponsor, we were not made aware of the details of the entertainment or the performers. At Demy-Colton, we do not condone the objectification of women (or men) in any form and are disappointed in this lack of judgement.
As a women-owned business, Demy-Colton strives for inclusiveness and diversity at our company and at our events. We are very proud of the fact that, earlier this year at Biotech Showcase, we did not have any all-male panels. Furthermore, at Demy-Colton, we respect, value and celebrate the unique attributes and perspectives of each individual. Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of what we do at Demy-Colton, both in terms of our culture, and in terms of our event programming, and it makes all of us in the biotech industry better.
As a strong supporter of the #MeToo movement, I am absolutely against the objectification of women in any format and in any setting. I understand the harm it can generate. As a society, we have a long way to go in terms of fully recognizing objectification in all of its forms because, until we do, we cannot address it. All of us deserve equal pay and equal opportunity without having to pay any special price.
